Poster Session Details:

Description: Poster sessions combine the graphic display of materials with the opportunity for individualized, informal discussion of the topic throughout a 50-minute session. Individual presenters set up displays representing their topics in a large area with other presenters. During the poster session, conference attendees circulate about the room interacting with multiple poster presenters. Because of the physical configuration of this type of session, no additional audio-visual equipment, such as a screen or overhead projector, is provided.

Session Criteria: The following criteria will be considered when reviewing proposals for Poster sessions:

  • Does the proposal make a contribution to innovation in teaching?
        √ Does the proposal show that the proposed topic and its content are related to the ISETL mission?
        √ Does the proposal illustrate new perspectives on relevant topics?

  • Is this presentation likely to be interesting to ISETL members?
        √ Does the proposal show that the topic is broad enough to embrace more than those in one specific discipline?
        √ Does the proposal reveal plans to help participants see how the ideas are applicable to their respective fields?
        √ Does the proposal focus on the mission of ISETL?

  • Is the proposal well written?
        √ Does the author present an organized, coherent proposal that utilizes the standard conventions of grammar, punctuation and spelling?
        √ Does the author present his/her ideas in a logical manner that makes it easy for the reader to follow?

  • Does the proposal illustrate an appropriate knowledge of the literature?
        √ Does the proposal reveal appropriate literature to support the content being presented?

  • Are the conclusions well supported?
        √ Does the proposal provide conclusions that are well supported with examples that are specific and relevant?
        √ Does the proposal show that the author's position is an appropriate conclusion based on the evidence being presented?

Final Check: Before submitting proposals, authors should review the questions below. Check to see if the proposed session is appropriate for the ISETL conference and the proposal is ready for the blind review process.

  • Have you considered the appropriateness of your proposal with regards to the ISETL Mission?
  • Have you considered the purpose of the conference in your planning?
  • Have you considered the conference audience?
  • Have you considered the theoretical underpinnings of the topic?
